{ Milan Sleeps Her Sunday Away }
Dreaming about eating cranberries and carrots…

Milan and Rupert have been so cuddly lately! They love to hang out while I search the internet, make crafts, and catch up on work. Milan has really become quite happy with her little room and she seems happier than ever. Now she is sleeping like a little hen under her favorite chair!

Yesterday I used my 50% off coupon at Michael’s craft store to stock up on holiday items! Of course I only use Martha Stewart Crafts ~ they are c’est magnific! I love the decorations kits, stamp sets, and the best thing in the world, GLITTER!!!
Seeing all the holiday things out already makes me so excited for the holidays. I used to be the exact opposite, but now I love the holidays! The earlier the better. I’ve been tricked by the big corporations to be a good consumer!
I have to think of it this way - 3 weeks until Thanksgiving! Then we get an entire week off teaching classes! 3 more weeks Stace - you can do it!

{ Halloween at Erin and Marc’s house - 35 }
Evil games like “questions, questions, questions” and the “bowl” game were on tap for the night while Marc harassed the local children as they shouted “trick or treat” at him.
Jaren and Patrick came as “B” and Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl, ascot included. Themes for the night included Prince, cilantro cream, your mom, debauchery and Benadryl, and other things we cannot mention. We played a game {I won, of course} where you have to guess who you are - denoted by the piece of paper on your head. I watched Marie Antoinette earlier that day so that’s where the idea came from. Joseph was Johnny Cash, Marc was Napoleon, Cory was Mr. Peanut (a tough one if you ask me), Erin was Groucho Marx, Jaren was Andy Dick, Patrick was Carmen Miranda and I was Joe the Plumber. We each brought a pizza from our local favorites. Joseph and I brought London Pride (thanks Cory for introducing me to this stuff) and Halloween cupcakes from Whole Foods bakery!!! YUM!

I heard Ellie was a beautiful Ariel with her “tie dye” red hair and cute costume! Can’t wait to see pictures!

Happy Halloween everyone!
To celebrate at school, my 6th graders listened to music including In the Hall of the Mountain King, Harry Potter Theme, Night on Bald Mountain, Funeral March for a Marionette, Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and This is Halloween, while they made scary silhouettes out of black and orange paper! We looked at spooky art like Caravaggio’s Medusa, Egon Shiele, Bosch, Otto Dix, Maclise, and Kara Walker! I had a great time and my sixth graders enjoyed making graveyards and telling me scary stories!

{ Tin Soldiers }
They come alive at night and relive this battle scene… over …and over…

Russell + Hazel
Tomorrow we have a professional learning day, which means no classes! Everyone is excited. We are playing badminton at lunch time and enjoying the nice warm weather before it disappears for the season. Although I love snow, there is nothing like the feeling of sun-kissed skin and lawn games. BBQ master Cory will be manning the grill as usual.
Tomorrow night I’ll be sporting my sea captain/George Washington look. It didn’t cost anything so in my mind I won the Halloween costume game.
