{”Address Your Letters Correctly” by Manfred Reiss}

‘I have only made this letter rather long because I have not had time to make it shorter’ - Blaise Pascal

One of the most famous quotes in the world is about the writing of letters, which shows how important letters are to people. Even in the era of email and text messaging letter writing continues to thrive in the 21st Century.

Nothing we have come up with since the first letter was written can compare to this mode of communication. What else is as personal, as enthralling as a handwritten letter from someone we care about? What else can give such a heightened sense of anticipation?

an-post-stamp-euboypopupOkay, so I’m not living in Ireland {anymore}, but I could be writing letters with these cute stamps and sending them all over the world! I think I need to travel - soon!

Here are just two of the many stamps the Irish post, An Post, has issued recently. I like the mushrooms, but the question is, who wouldn’t? Fungi seem to be timeless - go figure. The other stamp is a sweet illustration of a boy writing a letter {I can only assume CORRECTLY}.

The Fauna & Flora Stamps are “Illustrated by Ian Loe, with typography by Steve Simpson, each of the four new stamps features an-post-fungi-stampa species of fungus found in Ireland: the Pink Waxcap (Hygrocybe calyptriformis), the Parasol (Macrolepiota procera), the Orange Birchbolete (Leccinum versipelle) and the Scarlet Elfcup (Sarcoscypha austriaca).”
