If it weren’t for George III I guess we wouldn’t love yellow and grey so much this Independence Day! I adore this portrait by Allan Ramsay, 1762, The Royal Collection. Artists like Ramsay make it look so easy, don’t they? Looking at portraits such as this makes me want to sign up for an oil class. I only took acrylic, so sad.
This is a mural I found while doing a general “Independence Day” Google search. It is very informational, more so than the History Channel’s concise history of the Fourth of July. Although you can watch an entertainingly cheesy video! I also enjoy piddling around on the Charters of Freedom website. I’m not a very patriotic person, but it is interesting to revisit this part of American history.
