Little Man Ice Cream

Little Man Ice Cream

{ Little Man Ice Cream }

How fantastic is this ice cream shop, Little Man Ice Cream?

Joseph and I checked it out right away. The LMIC creamery can is located directly behind Lola’s and shares a quaint patio with good tunes and loads of outdoor seating. They make their ice cream themselves and the quality is evident. It doesn’t have that heavy whipping cream taste that many Denver ice creams have. It isn’t Graeter’s, but it was the perfect balance of taste and texture.

C’est délicieux!

Here is Joseph taking a bite out of his butter pecan!

Museum Guides for Art Educators

{ 07.07.08 | Written by Stacey }

During more of my research for the new art curriculum I noticed the Musee d’Orsay fashioned yellow & grey for their Museum History page! I was delighted as you could imagine.

I am currently pulling together as many web resources as possible and cataloging their specific features for school education. I get lost in the museum websites because they include numerous photographs and detailed information to help people understand their collections. So many museums have included amazing educator resources such as the following:

  1. MET: Walk the Block, detailed timeline, look closer activities, great kids page
  2. National Gallery of London and Tate: videos, lesson plans, games, activities
  3. Louvre: Closer Look narrated guides to works of art, 3D tours, works broken down by themes
  4. Prado: Glossary
  5. MOMA: Red Studio, Destination Modern Art, Modern Teachers lesson plans
  6. Guggenheim: limited lessons and resources
  7. Musee d’Orsay: Floor plan, museum history, loads of great photographs and guides
  8. Whitney: Learning @ Whitney, student-directed, teacher resources and methodology, audio clips, timeline, project ideas, Exploring Stories
  9. NGA D.C.: loads of student-directed materials, teacher resources, past exhibitions including DADA, online tours
  10. Pompidou Centre: Junior Pompidou site, so colorful and FULL of video, audio, photos, interactive, and more!
  11. Denver Art Museum: Wacky Kids learning sit
  12. Cincinnati Art Museum: Teacher resource guide
  13. Contemporary Art Center: sadly nothing! Come on Cincinnati

There are so many resources out there that I can’t possibly keep going on! For today at least.

NY Times Magazine, Travel Summer

{ 07.06.08 | Written by Stacey }

{Style Map: BARCELONA, Dale Fuchs Photos by Ana Nance}

I cannot express to you enough how much I enjoy reading the NY Times Magazine. Every season special editions, such as travel, fashion {W & M}, and design hide themselves in the stack of grey and white New York Times papers. I used to read the tangible paper, but now I’m down to the online version. I love flipping through the pages and cutting my favorite articles out, but I have to think of it this way; I’m saving trees!

This season’s Travel Summer 2008 is loaded with great articles and pictures! I already sent Maggie a link to the “Goods” section which features Portland, Maine designers {Mag & Rob are taking a fall trip to Maine to celebrate their first wedding anniversary}!

My other favorite finds are the Style Map of Barcelona, and the brilliant photos of Provence Profound.

Side note, Style Map: Barcelona #8 SAGARDI was our favorite place to snack in Barcelona!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Pammy, Dave, & Laura!

{ 07.05.08 | Written by Stacey }

{Oh Happy Day! Birthday Hats}

For our July babies, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

First to Pammy! What aunt do you know also responds to “Radiant Beauty”? She loves to shop, who doesn’t? RB loves to gossip, gossip, gossip, plays ruthless board games with Judy, and more importantly loves to be with family! Even when she is feeling under the weather, Pammy is always thinking of others. She has always been a second mother to all the girls, and boys, and always has the best gossip in town. On this birthday I am postive she will enjoy some Graeter’s summer specials {peach} and some tasty cake. I know she will enjoy her little gift from Coach that Joseph and I picked out for her new blue purse!

Next is Dave! Who is really running the Cincy scene for the 20-somethings? Who jet-sets every weekend from city to city, meeting up with friends to have wild nights on the town? He might never call himself this, but he is the ultimate Jewish connection and sports fan - that is Dave! {Not to mention he has his very own fan club, The Official Dave Weisbrot Fan Club on Facebook} This birthday Dave is in our very own Mile High City hanging with family and friends, maybe even catching a baseball game or two. We love you Dave! L’Chaim!

Finally Laura! Possibly the sweetest girl I know, Laura, my cousin, has a double whammy this birthday season! She is not only gaining another year of sweetness and glamor, but also a college degree! Congrats to all your successes and best wishes for your birthday and future career!

Fly By Way of Balloons!

{ 07.05.08 | Written by Stacey }

{image & story via the Washington Post, Photograph by Jeff Barnard}

What better way to fly than by a balloon chair, rather Couch? Mister Kent Couch of Bend, Oregon drifted his way to Idaho via hundreds of rainbow balloons! The image of him soaring in the air surrounded by colorful balloons seems something out of a Mary-Poppins-esque film… so magical! I wouldn’t mind trying his flying contraption over the mountains! If we are talking “magical” maybe even the mountain goats would be wearing lederhosen!

If I had the time and money and people, I’d do this every weekend, Couch said before getting into the chair. Things just look different from up there. You’ve moving so slowly. The best thing is the peace, the serenity.

Dream Job, Kate Spade

{ 07.05.08 | Written by Stacey }

I have decided that one of my newest dream jobs is to work in the creative department for kate spade. It wouldn’t really matter what I would work on because it all looks fantastic. I spent an hour reading through all their projects, events, and all the other goodies in Behind the Curtain. It lead me to some other interesting blog finds like Hollister Hovey and Bunny Tomerlin. I like Bunny Tomerlin’s blog because she mentions Fischer Price little people {we used to play with} and pickled okra {a Meyer~McCoy childhood favorite}.

DREAM JOBS: {part i}

  1. Travel + Leisure Photographer/Writer
  2. Taschen Photographer
  3. Blueprint Photographer/Writer
  4. Children’s Book Illustrator
  5. Museum Curator
  6. Professional Badminton Player
  7. Small Store Owner
  8. kate spade Creative Department
  9. Accordion Player {Irish Accordion~Irish Dancing Music}
  10. Ballerina

I hope everyone had a marvelous 4th of July! We posted photographs on 9F Flickr {see left}. If you have pictures send them my way please!!! Jaren and Patrick made the most delicious burgers with a seasoning bought from the Savory Spice Shoppe and homemade French vanilla ice cream! It was a perfect holiday treat! Merci Jaren and Patrick and Willie!

Free day at the museums! I used to have a membership to the DAM, but it just recently expired, so sad. Joseph and I will be seasonal patrons next year. I am most positive that every city has free days, so take advantage of them! Museums are magical places that transport you back to elementary field trips!

My Rabbits Would Never…

{ 07.04.08 | Written by Stacey }

Reading up on my favorite blogs I happened upon Button & Squiggle’s mention of these visually playful ads… Created by the brilliant Guillermo Vega for a condom company. Who knew? Check out more of these “cute” ads on his website. Side note, I tried to find the Argentinian condom company, Tulipán, but there are no results!

Guillermo has been recognized with national and international awards such as: Cannes, FIAP, London Festival, New York Festival, Clio, British, One Show, El Ojo de Iberoamérica, Gramado, several Lápiz de Oro and Lapiz de Platino, among others. ~ About Guillermo Vega
